Best Small Business in Wales
It was very proud moment in Castle Fine Arts history, when on Friday 21st November they were named as the National Best Small Business in the British Small Business Champions (BSBC) 2008 Awards.
The foundry was amongst six regional finalists who were invited to a lavish Awards Dinner held at Claridges in London, after being announced as the winner they were presented with £10,000 to be spent on the benefit of the business.
Castle Fine Arts Foundry Ltd is based in Llanrhaeadr Ym Mochnant, with further studios in Oswestry Town Centre and Stroud, Gloucestershire. The company was started in 1990 by Managing Director, Chris Butler.
It is now an award winning business and one of the country’s leading art foundries, working closely with local, national and international artists to cast high quality bronze sculptures; from small scale gallery pieces right up to monumental public commissions that are seen in many towns and cities in the UK and abroad.
BSBC was founded in 2002 by the Federation of Small Businesses to celebrate and gain recognition for the UK’s small businesses of which there are over four million. It is the only national awards scheme exclusively for small businesses.
To qualify for the award scheme, businesses must have been established for at least five years, not employ more than 50 people and be able to demonstrate that they are highly regarded by customers, staff and their local community.
Chris Butler, Managing Director had this to say:
“These are very exciting times for Castle Fine Arts and we are looking forward to the next stage of the company’s development. I’d like to think that we already have a good reputation as a business, but winning this award can only enhance it.
I’m very proud to have won this award, proud for my business and proud for all my staff, who have put in so much effort over the years.”

Past National Chairman and Head Judge of BSBC 2008, Carol Undy said:
“Castle Fine Arts is a shining example of a successful small business. This came across very strongly at each stage of the judging process – its written application, its interview with the panel of BSBC judges and then , when I visited the foundry and met its staff.”
